what Are The Chances?
What Are The Chances? is a three-panel screen print on painted plywood that explores how we read randomness and control. The coin toss — a familiar symbol of chance — becomes deliberate, arranged, and reflective. If the outcome is chosen, is it still chance?
The sequence moves from certainty to absence, suggesting time’s flow and our place within it. The final empty circle gestures toward the unknown, inviting viewers to consider how we reconcile what’s happened with what’s yet to come.
The printed surface, against the grain of the wood, mirrors the tension between human precision and natural variation. It’s a meditation on assumption, time, and the systems we build to make sense of uncertainty.
